Serving home made food using fresh produce is a priority for us - our bread and cakes are made daily on site, and our butchers, fish, vegetable and cheese suppliers are all local companies and hand picked for their quality. With seasonal menus we’ll be using the freshest ingredients all year round.

 

Renowned Head Chef Sean McBride is leading the kitchen and the design of the menus, ensuring they are consistently fresh, exciting and always hand-made. He comes to us from the Alexandra Hotel in Lyme Regis, during which time it was awarded with the Conde Naste ‘Best Waterside Hotel’. Prior to this Sean achieved a strong Michelin recommendation for his food at ‘The Puffing Billy’ in Exeter, then moving onto ‘Oliva’ in Topsham where he won Dorset Life’s ‘Restaurant of the Year’ for three consecutive years, plus ‘Chef of the Year’ for two years running. Sean was classically trained under Masterchef Peter Roberts and his early career saw him training in multiple rosette-holding restaurants.

 

The kitchen staff hold a further five rosette awards between them – including Dan (Sous Chef) who was trained under Masterchef winner Matt Follas and comes from two rosette restaurant ‘Wild Garlic’, whilst Mike (Chef de Partie) comes from two rosette restaurant ‘The Holt’, so you have an award winning team taking care of your meal!

The recently renovated front bar, fireside bar and rear bar areas provide a selection of rustic table seating and scattered sofas to relax and comfortably watch  the world go by.

We’re a 17th century coaching Inn with oodles of history, nestled in picturesque sandstone village of Abbotsbury, Dorset. Situated between Weymouth, Bridport and Dorchester, we’re just a short stroll from the famously glorious Jurassic coastline.

 

The Harrison family is excited to have recently taken over the business, fully renovating the bar and restaurant in April 2014 with a fresh look, new menu and extended drinks list.

 

Our passion is to provide fantastic food at an affordable price, wrapped up in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Bedrooms are currently due for renovation in late 2014. We’re happy to offer the rooms at a reduced rate until we renovate them in line with the stylish bar and restaurant.

 

Rooms are simple but all offer double beds, en suite bathrooms, toiletries, and of course are only a sleepy stroll upstairs from the revamped bar, restaurant and garden. The nightly rate includes a delicious full English breakfast (see our menu tab for the full options available).
